In this guide, we’ll show you how to change your VPS IP address using the Mikyhost control panel and explain the difference between dynamic IP and static IP.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Log in to Mikyhost.com using your email and password.
- Click on Services from the client area menu.
- Select your active VPS product to open the VPS control panel.
- Scroll down to find your current Public IP address.
- Scroll back to the top of the page and click Stop to shut down your VPS.
Please note that Mikyhost VPS services use dynamic IPs by default. - After the server status shows Stopped, refresh your browser.
You will notice that the Public IP is no longer available. - Wait approximately 3 minutes, then click Start to power the server back on.
- While the server status is Pending, you will see that a new IP address has been assigned.
- Refresh the page again until the server status changes to Running.
Dynamic IP vs Static IP
- Dynamic IP
A dynamic IP address changes every time the server is stopped and started.
This is the default configuration for Mikyhost VPS services. - Static IP
A static IP address remains the same even if the server is stopped or restarted.
If you need a static IP, you can request one by opening a support ticket with the Mikyhost team.
Need a Static IP?
Simply create a support ticket from your client area and our team will assist you with the request.
